Construction

 

In May 2010, Vered began building a storage and office space for Educational Excursions, The Green Building Adventure. It was completed in June 2011. This structure is made from mostly reclaimed and recycled materials, and it is so well-constructed that even the Pickens County building inspectors were impressed.

While living in Vermont, Vered was first a crew member, and then the crew leader of the Winooski Valley Park District.

When deciding whether to get a teaching certification, Vered substituted full-time for the schools. Most of her time was spent at Pickens County Middle School so duties went beyond normal substitute responsibilities.

Duties include:

  • Educating in the classroom
    • Teachers were familiar with Vered's teaching abilities
      so they left lesson plans to actually teach their class
      rather than 'baby sit'.
    • Students knew that she could explain things differently
      than their teachers so much of her classroom time
      was spent tutoring them.
  • High Ropes Course
    • The school system sent Vered to Project Adventure to get her high ropes certification.
    • She set-up the equipment on the challenge course , belayed the climbers, and led many of the activities.
